Amy Guglielmo

Amy Guglielmo is an author, artist, educator, and arts and STEAM advocate. She writes children’s books about strong, pioneering women, and artsy, innovative people. She is the co-author of the award-winning POCKET FULL OF COLORS: The Magical World of Mary Blair Disney Artist Extraordinaire (Atheneum 2017) and How to Build a Hug: Temple Grandin and Her Amazing Squeeze Machine (Atheneum 2018) with Jacqueline Tourville, and the upcoming LUCY! How Lucille Ball Did it All (Abrams 2024). She is the co-creator of the Peek-A-Book Series: GOODNIGHT, STARRY NIGHT (Cartwheel 2019) and LOVE (Cartwheel 2020) with Julie Appel. Amy and Julie also wrote the Touch the Art children’s series (Sterling 2006, 2009, 2010).

Amy’s other books include, CEZANNE’S PARROT (Putnam 2020) a picture book biography about artist Paul Cézanne, and Just Being Dalí: The Story of Artist Salvador Dalí, with illustrations by Brett Helquist! Her latest project is the What the Artist Saw series in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art and DK books. Titles in the series include: What the Artist Saw: Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Louise Bourgeois, and the upcoming Frida Kahlo!

Amy taught high school art in the Adirondacks and she is the founder of the Via Verde School of Art in New York City. She has written for various publications, including Adirondack Life, New York Journal of Books, and American Book Review. Amy is a frequent visitor to story times at indie and national bookstores. She is workshop presenter and speaker at schools, festivals, museums, universities, book fairs, and libraries in the U.S. and internationally. She has appeared at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, Highlights Foundation, and the New York State Reading Association. Amy is represented by Stephen Barbara at InkWell Management. She lives on the Adirondack Coast of Lake Champlain and the Pacific Coast of Mexico with her husband. She loves walking in the woods, baking treats, and doing water sports, but she hates getting her hair wet!
