Adrian McKinty grew up in Northern Ireland. After studying at Oxford University he moved to New York City, working in bars, bookstores, building sites and finally the basement stacks of the Columbia University Medical School Library. In 2000 he relocated to Denver, Colorado where he taught high school English and began writing fiction.
He is the author of Orange Rhymes with Everything (Morrow, 1997), Dead I Well May Be (Scribner, 2003), which was shortlisted for the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award, Hidden River (Scribner, 2004), The Dead Yard (Scribner, 2006), The Bloomsday Dead (Scribner, 2007), Fifty Grand (Holt, 2009), which won the 2010 Spinetingler Award and was long-listed for the 2011 Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year.
In 2009 Adrian moved to Melbourne, Australia with his wife and two children, and began work on his acclaimed Sean Duffy crime series, comprising The Cold Cold Ground (Seventh Street Press, 2012), I Hear the Sirens in the Street (Seventh Street Press, 2013) and IN THE MORNING I’LL BE GONE (Seventh Street Press, February 2014).
